Closing date for receipt of submission of your California Calling audition film is midnight on 1st March 2010 How to enter Films should be between 30 seconds and 3 mins seconds in length.
Then either visit www.californiacalling.co.uk and upload your film (this will require users to register with YouTube whilst on the website. Existing YouTube members will not need to re-register; they may use their existing account details).
Or save your film to a DVD or memory stick and send by post to 'California Calling Competition, Black Diamond, 15 Bedford St, London, WC2E 9HE.' Original materials cannot be returned. Whilst every effort will be made, it cannot be guaranteed that postal entries can be uploaded by the Promoter to www.californiacalling.co.uk website due to the cost of conversion involved. However, all postal entries will be viewed (where technologically possible) and will be eligible to win.
If you upload your film via the internet, you must keep a digital or hard copy of your original recording in case it is selected as a finalist to broadcast on TV.
Entrants must create and submit a film which is original work and does not contain or infringe the intellectual property rights and/or privacy of a third party. Entrants must ensure that they have obtained the consent of any person featured in the clip.
All films submitted may be subject to moderation. The Promoter has the absolute discretion to upload or not upload any film and to remove any film already uploaded without giving reasons for the decision. The Promoter shall in particular refuse to upload any film for the following reasons:
Please respect copyright. Entrants must only submit or upload films and content that they have made themselves or that they are authorised to use. This means that entrants must not upload films they didn't make, or use content in their films to which someone else owns the copyright, such as music tracks, snippets of copyrighted programmes or films made by other people, without the requisite authorisations.

Prize Selection
The public will be invited to rate their favourite films on www.californiacalling.co.uk via a 5 point ratings system. Public ratings and amount of views will be taken in to consideration when selecting the shortlist of submissions to be judged by an expert panel.
All eligible entries received by the closing date will be judged by a panel which will include at least one member independent of the Promoter.
The judges will select the winner on the basis of the entries that is the most funny, creative, unique, original and performers who are deemed most suitable to appear in the final California TV ad.
There will be one final winner selected at the discretion of the judging panel.
Only the winner will be notified, which will be by email within two weeks of the closing dates for receipt of entries.
The selected winner shall be contacted at the earliest possible opportunity to ensure that they wish to accept the prize offering.
Confirmation of the winner is subject to the proposed winner's availability and eligibility to travel to California within the available time slot, this includes, but is not limited to, gaining the required visas, vaccinations, travel -insurance, permissions and compliance with conditions of travel.
In the event that the winner cannot be contacted, or is unable to confirm acceptance of the prize, the promoter reserves the right to cancel prize entitlement and award the prize to a reserve selected at the same time as the original.
Prize Details
Online entrants must retain the original materials for their submissions. If selected as the winner they may be required to post their materials to 'California Calling Competition, Black Diamond, 15 Bedford St, London, WC2E 9HE.' By 7th March 2010.
The Prize will consist of, but not be limited to, the winner and up to one friend or family member being flown from London to Los Angeles by first class return air fair from the selected airline partner. The winner and their companion will be given accommodation, food and ground transport for the duration of their stay in California for up to 7days. The winner will, within reason be required to attend nightclubs, entertainment shows, visitor attractions and restaurants and have their experiences filmed and photographed. The winner and their companion will have at their disposal a publicity crew and chaperone for the duration of their stay in California. The winner and their companion will be given $1000 each in cash to spend within their time in California.
The winner will be required to spend 1 full day attending a film shoot and acting out a script of and in a location of the promoters choosing.
The winner and their companion will be required to abide by and observe all laws, statutes and reasonable customs of the State of California during their time in the State. The winner and their companion will be asked to undertake tasks and behaviours as directed by the promoter for the duration of their time in California.
By undertaking the filming of a section of the California Tourism advert and having their time in California recorded on film and in photographs the winner and their parent/guardian if they are under 18 understands and agrees that:
The Promoter reserves the right to withdraw the TV broadcast element of the promotion/prize or to re-schedule the dates of broadcast for reasons outside its control.
General provisions
No alternative prizes are available.
The name and county of the competition winner will be available on www.californiacalling.co.uk from 15th March 2010 for a minimum period of three months.
The winner may be required to participate in unpaid publicity concerning this Promotion.
Any personal information provided by the Entrants, including as part of the YouTube registration and sign-in process, will only be used by the Promoter in accordance with its Privacy Statement which is accessible at www.californiacalling.co.uk/privacy for the purposes of the competition or as otherwise set out in these terms and conditions.
In addition, Participants may be asked on the Promotional website if they would like to opt in to receive email updates on the latest news and information from the Promoter and its associated companies. Should the participant opt-in and decide at a later date that they would no longer like to receive these updates, they should click on the opt-out link available in the email received. The Promoter's decision in all matters to do with the promotion will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Entrants will retain ownership to the film entries each submits. However, by entering the competition each entrant grants the Promoter and YouTube a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable licence (with the right to sub-licence) to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display, and perform, in all media, the submitted material in any manner in perpetuity and without further approval or consideration including financial reimbursement.
All entrants will be deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions and the YouTube terms of use by participating in this promotion. The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any entries which it believes have not been made in compliance with these terms and conditions.
The Promoter accepts no responsibility for entries which due to a technical or other problems beyond the Promoter's control, fail to be received. Proof of submitting online or by post is not proof of receipt by the Promoter.
The Promoter excludes liability to the fullest extent permitted by law for any loss, damage or injury occurring to the entrant arising from his or her entry into the promotion or occurring to the winner or their companion arising from his or her acceptance of a prize.
The promotion is subject to the laws of England and the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.
